INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the official site for the 2017 Papal Visit to Victoria hosted by the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Melbourne and Affiliated Regions.

This site will facilitate your Registration for a unique Diocesan ID Card.

The Diocesan ID Card must be carried and presented at ALL Papal Events.  If you do not hold a Diocesan ID card at Papal Events, entry will not be allowed.

In addition, paid tickets need to be booked for attendance at the Gala Banquet and Youth Meeting. All other events are free and un-ticketed.

There is a three step process to ticket bookings and management as highlighted below

STEP 1

Security ID Card Registration

First register for an ID card via this site which will grant you access to your nominated event/s.

The final date for registration of an ID Card is August 10. No bookings for events or registrations can be accepted after this date.

Your card will be sent to your parish within one month of registration date.

Please see your parish priest to collect your card/s.

All members of your family, require an ID card to participate in events, even infant and children.

When your registration is complete you will be sent correspondence to your email address with your unique ID code within it. You will need this code to proceed with bookings for ticketed events.

To prepare your Diocesan ID Card you will require:

  • Passport photo of each event attendee as per specifications here
  • Drivers license (Australian) or Passport (Australian or foreign)
  • You will need to individually register each member of your family

Please note dependents, in this instance are defined as children or parents who live permanently at your home address only. If your children or parents have their main residence at a different home address, they are required register independently.

If any parishioner needs technological or language support to mobilise the online ticket booking process (which will be in English), please seek assistance from family members, fellow parishioners or your parish priest.

Vespers and General Congregational Meeting

St Paul’s Youth

  • St Paul’s youth will be responsible for marshalling duties throughout the visit.

Please note you will need to have completed Step 1 above in order to progress your ticket booking for ticketed events.

Preference for all events is given to members of the Diocese of Melbourne.

STEP 3

Event Entry

For each Papal Event being hosted by the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Melbourne and Affiliated Regions all attendees, even babies, will require a Diocesan ID Card.

Our security team are unable to allow any exceptions to retain optimal security for His Holiness.

In addition, your pre-purchased barcoded tickets will need to be presented for two events only which are the Papal Gala Banquet and Youth Gathering.

ABOUT THE POPE OF HOPE VISIT

The Pope of the Coptic Orthodox Church will make an official visit to the Diocese of Melbourne and affiliated regions from 6-13 September 2017. Pope Tawadros II is the Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St Mark.

Australia’s Coptic community is optimistic the upcoming visit of Pope Tawadros II will bring new hope. His Grace Bishop Suriel, leader of the Melbourne Copts, believes the Papal visit is an opportunity for the community to receive his blessings.
